ABAO Bilbao Opera will bring to the stage a fun and suggestive production, in the purest Donezittian style, set in a Neapolitan pizzeria. The brainchild of one of the most prestigious stage designers on the scene today, Alfons Flores. With totally solid sets that invade the entire stage space of the Euskalduna Bilbao, where voices of international prestige such as Simón Orfila, María José Moreno and Francesco Demuro will move, led by Sesto Quatrini, who makes his debut at ABAO Bilbao Opera.
ABAO Bilbao Opera, on the occasion of the centenary of the death of Giacomo Puccini on the same day, November 29 (3rd performance), represents this work of lyrical art in which Paco Azorín shows us the meaning of life of the characters of the three operas: Il tabarro, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi. A tour de force for any opera house, with 29 artists on stage. Directed by one of the great experts of the Puccini repertoire, maestro Pedro Halffter.
The everlasting loves of Tristan und Isolde return to ABAO Bilbao Opera. A pinnacle opera of the lyrical repertoire with a production of a plasticity in keeping with the music of Richard Wagner. For the first time, ABAO Bilbao Opera brings to Bilbao this great opera in four acts as Donizetti premiered it at the Paris Opera in 1840, recovering the original music from the day of the premiere. Winner of the 2022 Abbiati Award for the best production by Valentina Carrasco, the set design recreates the exotic atmosphere of Alfonso XI's Seville, combining it with the religious mysticism of the time and the claustrophobia of the king's former favourites.
The successful production of ABAO Bilbao Opera returns ten years later to dream with one of Giuseppe Verdi's best scores. Envy, jealousy and love will be at the epicenter of a music as overwhelming as the feelings themselves.
